2023 Wedding Trends (and how to make them timeless)

Filed in: Advice

Every year there are new trends that make it into the wedding industry. From elaborate name-card displays to custom cocktails, there is always something trendy brewing. While these can be fun to incorporate on your wedding day, keep in mind that trends do not always age well (*ahem*, looking at you white tuxes with baby blue socks).

On today’s blog, I’m breaking down a few of the latest trends and how you can keep them timeless while remaining en vogue for your day.

1. Blurred motion

Motion blur gives an “in-the-moment” feel to your wedding photos. This can be beautiful and helps you re-live special moments in a unique way. To make it timeless, ask your photographer for a few motion images during a part of the day that already has natural movement, like during the first dance or when walking. This will keep the motion true to the moment and a perfect compliment to your other timeless images.

2. Capes and bows

Bows are in and of themselves incredibly timeless. The bigger they get, the more trendy they are, so stick to *reasonably sized* and you’ll be good! Capes are a growing trend, but are perfect for the veil look without actually having a veil. To keep it classic, opt for a removable cape that has a flowy train.

3. Direct flash

Direct flash photos are full of nostalgia and reminiscent of going through old family photos. they are great at capturing the spirit of a big party reception. To keep it timeless, reserve these types of images for the dance floor or give some disposable cameras to your guests to document the night.

What do you think? Did I get it right? What other trends are you seeing?
